Ilkin Mehrabov

Ilkin Mehrabov is a senior lecturer at the Department of Strategic Communication at Lund University (Helsingborg, Sweden). He obtained his Ph.D. in 2017 from Karlstad University, Sweden, at the department of Geography, Media, and Communication Studies. His doctoral dissertation investigated how joint public-private surveillance is affecting new social movements in semi-authoritarian countries. He previously obtained a BSc degree in electrical and electronics engineering and an MSc degree in media and cultural studies. He is interested in computational social sciences and conducts quantitative and qualitative research and teaching on digital activism, cyber-security, online censorship, algorithmic propaganda, public relations, and lobbying.
